The Shutdown Heard Around the World

On day four of the government shutdown, US lawmakers appear no closer to ending the budget stalemate with no negotiations scheduled.

Another concern; the looming threat of a possible default is now less than two weeks away unless Congress raises the nation’s borrowing limit by October 17th.

John Harwood reports from Washington on the latest efforts to reopen the government and the war of words ringing out from the White House to the Capitol and beyond.
