Wal-Mart Dives, Drags Retailers Down

Wal-Mart stock dropped 3 percent mid-day on Wednesday after a press report said it was cutting orders to suppliers amid sluggish sales and rising inventories. While the company knocked the report as “misleading,” Wal-Mart dragged the Dow down with it, along with discount retailers and Wal-Mart suppliers.
