Facebook back up after brief interruption

If you were having trouble logging onto Facebook earlier, you weren’t alone.

The social networking site appeared to be down for some users and was loading slowly for others.

According to DownDetector.com the site started experiencing trouble around 10:00 a.m. ET Monday. A number of other sites used to track web outages showed similar problems, and complaints were widespread across Twitter as well.

Late last month, Facebook and Instagram became unavailable for both mobile and desktop users for about an hour. A hacking group called Lizard Squad claimed it was responsible for the outage, however, Facebook later denied the group caused the interruption.

The company was not immediately available for comment.

Facebook shares were slightly lower in early trading.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
