U.S. President Barack Obama plans to appoint Ron Klain to head the country’s response to Ebola, a source has confirmed to CNBC.
The move comes as the U.S. works to coordinate multi-state efforts to prevent further spread of the deadly disease.
Klain, who is not a medical doctor, has previously served as chief of staff to both Vice Presidents Joe Biden and Al Gore.
