Washington Deadlock Worries Wall Street

The political freeze-up in Washington over the debt limit and government shutdown has caused the Dow to shed all of September’s gains. It’s down a staggering 900 points from the all-time closing high hit three weeks ago, that’s nearly six percent.

Today was the worst day in six weeks for the S&P 500 and NASDAQ which fell two percent and volatility spiked to its highest level since June.

There is no movement and no discussion between President Obama and House Speaker Boehner over reopening the government and averting a federal default in nine days time.

Eamon Javers reports.
